Decisions Connector for Microsoft Copilot

Two ways to bring your Decisions meetings into Microsoft Copilot, and which one your licence supports.

Ask Microsoft Copilot about the meetings you run in Decisions. Copilot can answer from your agendas, AI Recaps, minutes, logged decisions, action items and meeting files.

There are two ways to bring Decisions into Copilot: the Decisions agent and the Decisions connector. Everyone with Copilot Chat can use the agent. People with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence can also use the connector.

Both come with the Decisions app for Microsoft Teams, so there is nothing extra to install.

Copilot Cowork is Copilot's mode for carrying out tasks for you. It needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence. Microsoft sets which licences support connectors: see Microsoft's prerequisites for connectors.

What you can do

  • Ask what was decided in a meeting, and see the logged decisions
  • Get AI Recaps, key takeaways and minutes, and prepare for upcoming meetings
  • Track open action items from your meetings
  • Find meeting files, decks, notes and recordings across SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams
  • Add, update or suggest agenda items, and publish an agenda

Organizers and meeting admins can edit an agenda directly. Other attendees can suggest items for the organizer to approve. These are the same rules as in Decisions itself.

Set up: for IT admins

Before you start, check three things:

  1. The Decisions app is allowed in the Teams admin center. The agent and the connector are part of the same app.
  2. Agents from external publishers are allowed. Go to Agents → Settings → Agent and plugin access in the Microsoft 365 admin center. Decisions is Microsoft 365 certified, so "Only certified external publishers" is enough. If external publishers are blocked, Microsoft blocks the whole Decisions app, including Decisions in Outlook.
  3. Decisions is connected to Microsoft 365, with AI features on. In the Decisions Admin portal, go to Company → Permissions. Connect to Microsoft 365 should show Connected, and Disable AI Features should be unticked. Approving Decisions only in Microsoft Entra or the Teams admin center isn't enough, because Decisions can't then read calendars.

Make the agent available:

  1. In the Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Agents → All agents and select Decisions.
  2. Make it available to your users, or deploy it to chosen groups.

Turn on the connector:

  1. Go to Copilot → Connectors → Your connections.
  2. Select Decisions and turn it on. You can roll it out to everyone or to chosen groups.

Before you roll out:

  • Leave the connector on, even for people who only use the agent. Turning the Decisions connector off under Your connections also blocks the Decisions agent.
  • Agents → Settings → User access controls who may use any agent or connector. If it is set to no users, nobody can use Decisions in Copilot.
  • Copilot Cowork is billed per activity, even with a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence.
  • The agent doesn't need pay-as-you-go billing. Microsoft notes that allowing agents can add to your costs if you have pay-as-you-go billing set up. See Microsoft's guide to agents in Copilot Chat.

Set up: for everyone

If you have a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence or Microsoft 365 E7, use the connector:

  1. In Copilot Chat, open Settings → Sources.
  2. Check that Decisions shows as connected. If it doesn't, select Connect and sign in with your Microsoft 365 work account.
  3. Make sure Work IQ is on in the Copilot Chat header.
  4. Ask away.

If you don't have that licence, or want to pick Decisions directly, use the agent:

  1. Open the agent list in Copilot Chat and select Decisions, or type @Decisions in your message.
  2. Ask away.

Try asking:

  • "What's on the agenda for my next meeting?"
  • "What did we decide in the last leadership meeting?"
  • "Which action items from this week's project syncs are still open?"
  • "Find the deck from last week's all-hands."

If something doesn't work

Copilot answers without using Decisions. Check that Work IQ is on. You can also name it: "Use Decisions to find the agenda for Monday's management meeting." No Work IQ switch? Use the Decisions agent instead.

"You don't have access to this agent." Your admin has turned off the Decisions connector or blocked the agent. Ask them to check the settings above.

Copilot says Decisions isn't set up for your organization. Open Decisions in Microsoft Teams once to finish setting up your organization, then ask again.

Copilot says an admin needs to approve Decisions. Decisions needs a Microsoft 365 admin to approve its access to calendars and files. Ask them to open the Decisions Admin portal, go to Company → Permissions, and select Re-Consent. They can also use app.boarddecisions.com/web/#/admin-consent.

Copilot says your Decisions plan doesn't include this. Some content and actions depend on your Decisions plan. Ask your Decisions admin about upgrading.

You disconnected Decisions under Settings → Sources. This stops both the connector and the agent. Connect it again from the same place. If Decisions still doesn't answer, contact support.

Security and permissions

Copilot acts with each person's own sign-in. Nobody sees anything through Copilot that they couldn't already open in Microsoft 365 and Decisions. Decisions reads your meeting content live from your organization's Microsoft 365 when you ask, and doesn't store or index a copy. Copilot asks you to approve a change before it is made, unless you chose to always allow that action. Read more in how Decisions connectors work.

FAQ

Will my meeting data be used to train AI models?

No. Decisions never uses your meeting content to train AI models. See the Decisions Trust Center for details.

Do I need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence?

Not for the agent. Anyone with Copilot Chat can use it. The connector and Copilot Cowork need a Microsoft 365 Copilot licence or Microsoft 365 E7.

Do I manage this with the MCP access toggle in Decisions?

No. Copilot access is managed in the Microsoft 365 admin center. The MCP access toggle in the Decisions Admin portal covers other AI assistants, such as Claude. AI features must still be on in Decisions: check that Disable AI Features is unticked under Company → Permissions.
