Learn about the user impact of the Azure Portal (AAD/Entra) > Enterprise application >...> Assignment required setting and why it should be enabled
Overview
- When approving and deploying the Decisions application in an organization, there are different settings to configure availability, access, and distribution. Often the Assignment required? setting in Azure Portal (AAD/Entra) for Enterprise Applications is mistakenly used for managing deployment and access to the Decisions application.
- Incorrect configuration of the Assignment required? setting often leads to unintended consequences and poor user experience.
User experience
- If a user is invited to participate and collaborate in a meeting with a Decisions agenda, the incorrect Assignment required? setting will block access without helpful information on how to correct it or who to contact.
- Common scenarios
- A user is invited to a meeting with Decisions agenda and want to prepare for the meeting. When trying to access the agenda, the error message leads them to believe something is wrong, and leading the user to not take any action to prepare for the meeting.
- A user is invited as a Guest Presenter to one part of the agenda and is expected to prepare their case for the board or the decision-making forum within reasonable time. The user cannot access the agenda and doesn't know how to rectitfy it. Often contacting the Meeting Admin, who also don't know how to correct or provide access.
- A Decisions user need approval to create and prepare a meeting agenda on a calendar event organized by a non-Decisions user. The organizer will not be able to approve the request.
